Credits are what each processed file costs. A plan sets what an account can do and how many credits come with it. This page covers how the two work together: how credits are spent, how they refill, and how a team shares them. Some parts of the interface still label this unit Points; the two terms refer to the same thing, also noted on the Glossary.
Plans at a glance
An account runs on one plan at a time. There are three families of plan:
| Plan | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Free | The starting state — no paid plan. It comes with a small recurring credit allowance so you can try the product, under the tightest capacity limits. |
| Basic, Pro, Max | Personal paid plans. Each step up raises the capacity limits and the credits included per billing cycle. |
| Growth, Scale, Enterprise | Team plans. A team plan is owned by one account and shared with its members; it also sets how many members the team can hold. |
A plan controls three things: how many files a batch can hold, how many uploads can run at once, and the credits included with the plan. Team plans also set the team's member capacity. The capacity numbers are on Limits & Specs, and member capacity is on the Team page.
Current prices and the number of credits each plan includes are on the Pricing page. They are not repeated here, because that page is the live source and changes when a price or an allowance changes.
A plan and a Model Tier are separate. The plan sets capacity and included credits; the Model Tier sets which AI model processes your files and what each file costs. Changing one does not change the other — see Model Tier.
How credits are consumed
Credits are charged when you start processing, not when you upload. Each processed file is charged once, at the rate set by the account's Model Tier. Standard is the base rate, and Advanced and Premium cost a multiple of it, so the same file costs more on a higher tier. The per-tier rates are listed on the Model Tier page.
One file is one charge. A single image is one file, and a multi-page document becomes several files: each page of a PDF counts on its own, and a Word or text file is converted into pages that each count on their own. A 40-page document is therefore 40 files and 40 charges. See Batches for how files add up within one batch.
The cost of a file does not depend on how many columns the file is read against. Ten columns cost the same as one; the charge follows the file and its tier, not the width of the table. See Custom Columns.
Processing is the main action that spends credits. Locating extracted values on the source image, Annotate on Image, also spends credits: it has a base cost that scales with the same tier, so it follows the rate of the extraction it annotates. Its exact cost is listed on Limits & Specs, and how it works is on Review Mode & Bbox Verification.
How credits refresh
A balance is not one number. The credits tooltip in your profile shows two balances, plus a third when you are in a team:
| Balance | Where it comes from | When it refills | Does it expire? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Plan | The credits included with a paid plan, or the recurring allowance on the Free plan | At each subscription renewal, in place of the old balance | Yes — cleared when the plan ends |
| Lifetime | Bought as one-off credit packs, or earned as one-time bonuses and redeemed codes | Never — it only goes down as you use it | No |
| Team | The team owner's balance, made available to members | Follows the owner's balance; it is not a separate wallet | Access ends when you leave the team |
Plan credits do not carry over. When a subscription renews, the Plan balance is replaced with the plan's allowance for the new cycle. Credits left unused at the end of a cycle are not added to the next one, so there is nothing to gain by letting them sit. If a plan lapses or is cancelled, the remaining Plan credits are cleared when the plan ends.
Lifetime credits never expire. These are the packs sold independently of a subscription, and they stay on the account until they are spent. When processing is charged, Plan credits are used before Lifetime credits.
The Free plan has no subscription but still receives a recurring monthly credit allowance. It is topped up to that allowance roughly once a month rather than accumulating, so a Free balance does not grow past the allowance by being left unused.
Team credits
A team does not get a second wallet. The shared balance is the owner's own credits, made available to the members while the team is active. That is why a member's Shared Credits Available is simply the owner's balance, and why the owner's account is the one charged when a member runs a batch.
Before processing starts, the app checks the combined total — your own credits plus the owner's. The charge is then drawn in a fixed order, with the team's share first:
- The owner's Plan credits.
- The owner's Lifetime credits.
- Your own Plan credits.
- Your own Lifetime credits.
This order is fixed — it is not a setting you can change. The sharing is one-directional: the owner's credits can pay for a member, but a member's credits never pay for the owner or for another member. A member's own credits stay with them if they leave or are removed.
If the owner's plan is no longer active, the team enters a frozen state: the shared balance shows as zero and shared concurrency is suspended, so a member can only spend their own credits until the owner's plan is active again. The team is not disbanded automatically. See the Team page for inviting, joining, leaving, and disbanding.
Common questions
Do unused credits carry over to the next month?
Plan credits do not. Each renewal replaces the Plan balance with the new cycle's allowance, so credits left unused are not carried forward. Lifetime credits behave differently: they never expire and stay until spent.
Do credits ever expire?
Lifetime credits do not expire. Plan credits are tied to the subscription: they refill at each renewal and are cleared when the plan ends.
Does upgrading my plan move me to a higher Model Tier?
No. A plan and a Model Tier are separate. Upgrading a plan changes capacity and the included credits; it does not change which model processes your files or what each file costs. See Model Tier.
Can I buy more credits without changing my plan?
Yes. One-off credit packs are sold alongside the plans on the Pricing page. They are added as Lifetime credits, which never expire.
Can the team spend order be changed?
No. The owner's credits are always used before a member's, and that order is not configurable.
If a run is cancelled or fails, what happens to the credits?
The credits charged for a file are returned when it is cancelled or fails. The amount returned follows the Model Tier recorded for that file when processing started, not the tier the account is on afterward. See Model Tier.
